-Towards Sendai, a "Global Startup City" Seamlessly Connected to the World-

"The city of Sendai has supported start-ups since 2013 and encouraged people from the Sendai and Tohoku to take on challenges for over a decade.
Following the unprecedented disaster of 2011, many new businesses have been established, grown, and spread their wings from this region.
Here, we will present the city's past progress and new policies, which have led to its selection as a “Global Start-up City” for 2025.
 Tohoku University has undoubtedly been a driving force for innovation in Sendai and the wider Tohoku region.
Many innovative start-ups have emerged from the university's world-class research and technologies.
In 2024, Tohoku University was designated Japan's sole University for International Research Excellence.
